That moment when you have to say no.

So if you’ve been following my blog, you know I’ve been doing three posts per week the past month. What I’ve discovered is this: I’m getting burnt out.

I’m not even writing that much and yet it’s completely exhausting me and taking away time I would normally spend on my WIP. So I’m going to amend my previous blog face-lift of doing a Monday/Wednesday/Friday post and instead do two posts per week, focusing on writing in general. I may still post a short story or two, but I’m just not a short story writer. They take me longer to write than a full-length novel, and I’m rarely happy with how they turn out.

I may also write some book reviews every now and then, but I’m not sure how I feel about this idea yet. I need to read more book review blogs before I decide.

What would you like to see me write more of on my blog?

  1. hey, i found writing up reviews to be a good way to fill the space between putting stories up. i don’t post anywhere near the level of frequency you mention here (5-6 posts a month), but i like the reflective aspect of a well-turned review. so that’s my vote.

  2. Definitely good advice. If I do book reviews (which the more I think about it, the more I’m leaning toward it), then it will only be once a month. Between working full time and trying to complete my own WIP I’ve become a slow reader.
